Anatol Lyabedzka and Syarhei Kalyakin Taking Up Their New Duties

Anatol Lyabedzka takes charge of the National Committee, and Syarhei Kalyakin electoral headquarters of the single democratic candidate in the presidential race in 2006. Thus, the two key figures in the team of Alyaksandr Milinkevich are named. What would their work look like?

The head of the National Committee sees the foundation of his activities in political agreement affirmed by the Congress of Democratic forces. It is said there that the National committee is responsible for elaboration of the future Belarus' model, for programs and projects of legislative initiatives.

"It is a kind of intellectual training area where the best intellectuals and experts in Belarusian are to work and help the single candidate. It is very important for more detailed documents to appear. They would demonstrate that it's a powerful team that brings changes," Anatol Lyabedzka said to Radio Svaboda.

Among the persons who could join the National Committee, its head names Stanislau Bahdankevich, Yaraslau Ramanchuk, Paval Dajneka, Mikhail Chyhir, Vasil Staravojtau, Zinaida Bandarenka. It is also planned to start negotiations with the rector of the European Humanities University Anatoly Mikhajlau and former Prime Minister Uladzimir Yarmoshyn, and other personalities.

"The main directions are to be defined, in which people are to work collectively. There will be two levels. A level at which the projects are to be created, and the level of representatives, so that people that are famous among some groups of population, which cause some positive emotions, are to be present there" Lyabedzka said.

Syarhei Kalyakin believes that the most important thing now is creation of the central headquarters, which is to carry out the main functions, organizational, technical and informational ones.

"People who can professionally make decisions and implement them are to join the headquarters. I think that for the next week we are to finish this work in general. And the second goal is to create competent local teams in regions. We are commencing this as well. Even today we are to achieve two aims, creation of the headquarters and immediate organizing of the political campaign, "Kalyakin said.
