Russia, Uzbekistan upper houses sign cooperation accord

TASHKENT - Russia and Uzbekistan have signed for the first time in the history of inter-parliamentary relations an agreement on cooperation between the two countries' upper houses of parliament.
Russian Federation Council and Uzbek Senate chairmen, Sergei Mironov and Ilgizar Sobirov, have signed the document.
The agreement envisages the formation of a commission on cooperation between the Federation Council, Russia's upper house of parliament, and Uzbekistan's Senate "for organization and cooperation of the interaction of the sides".
Russia and Uzbekiskatn will hold mutual consultations and coordinate their positions on matters of mutual interests for the activity in international parliamentary organizations.
